In the Spotlight: Atelier Pfeiffer
On the lookout for John Packer Musical Instruments in the Netherlands? Atelier Pfeiffer is the place for you.
The instrument retailer and repairer is based in the city of Rijswijk, on the west of the country, and has been meeting the needs of brass musicians of all levels of experience for decades.
Marcel Schot, CEO of Atelier Pfeiffer, reveals more about the company and its relationship with John Packer Musical Instruments…
Tell me about Atelier Pfeiffer, in terms of its heritage and how it’s evolved to where it is today.
MS: The company was founded in 1928 by a working immigrant, instrument maker Josef Pfeiffer. He started his own repair shop after the company he had worked for closed.
After Josef’s death, his son Ruud Pfeiffer took over and worked for 53 years as a master repair technician. In 2017 I took over a business which enjoys a proud history and which has been located at the same place for almost 60 years.
Who is your customer base?
MS: We deal with brass players from all walks of life, from youngsters and those in the early stages of playing to amateur and professional players, including members of The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
Tell me about your relationship with John Packer Musical Instruments.
MS: At Atelier Pfeiffer, we’ve stocked JP instruments for almost a decade. I was looking for a good, reliable and cheaper product next to other well-known brands we have in stock.
Among our best sellers are the JP051 Bb trumpet and the JP031 Bb tenor trombones. The JP161 single Bb French horn is also doing well.
For me as a small business, John Packer Musical Instruments is a very good partner, enabling us to provide good student instruments for a specific market.
We always receive positive, quick and efficient responses with JP. In the rare event there’s an issue, things are dealt with promptly. We look forward to continuing to develop our long-term relationship.
